Not a lot but not so little

I don't have a lot of info to give you guys today.

I've been working for the past three days and I'll work for the next two. That's good news. I am growing a little tired of being at Slappy Cakes but it'll all be worth it when I'm not behind on money when I come back from the east coast.

Other than that, the weekend is my time off from running and I started a new cross stitch that makes it almost impossible for me to go to bed at night. Hopefully I'll get to work on that on the plane. I would like to find some time to get one more color thread to use before I leave but if I don't I think it will be OK.

Tomorrow I'm looking forward to work in the morning, and three and a half beautiful miles in the evening and maybe some thread shopping somewhere in between there.

Hope you all are doing well. Looking forward to seeing most of you loyal readers in just a few days.

Thursday

My big news for today is that I'm going to have a visitor come April. Daniel Wood, a loyal follower of the blog and dear friend will be gracing Portland with his presence for several days at the beginning of April. It is really nice to have someone (excluding family, who are nice too) come and visit me. It's funny that when he comes out, I'll just have been getting back from the East Coast so we will both be adjusting to Pacific coast time at the same time.

Other than that a hiccup on the training front. It seems as though I may be getting some mild shin splints. I maybe, should have been more careful before I essentially tripled my weakly mileage. I was just so excited! It's OK though. After tomorrow's long run I've got a couple days off and then I'm going to start replacing my shortest runs with bike rides of equivalent time spans. I'm also not going to increase my mileage at all for the next couple of weeks. In fact, due to the bike replacement it will actually fall a bit. Then, I'm going to make every effort to run on people's lawns instead of on the sidewalks. Hopefully all of that will put me in good working order.

Today was my first day as a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity's Restore. It went well. I'm hoping that having two jobs won't get in my way of being able to volunteer when they need me but I'm not going to go around turning down any work.

Other than that, I just drank some sleepytime tea and am about to zonk out. Hope you all have had a good night.

Real Deal

Some of you may think I'm getting soft.

What with all the pictures of flowers and blue skies I'd think the same thing if I were you. But here is an update with real information.

I know you're looking for what's happening in my life. I know you're not interested in being placated with pretty pictures. Delicious pictures, on the other hand are in great demand.

I'll start with this. I got another job.
I actually got offered a few different jobs at the same time but the one I took is at a self serve yogurt shop. The benefits of this job as opposed to the other opportunities are that: A) it's closer to my house and B) there's room for advancement. This means that by summer time I could potentially be a manager there. C) I can eat frozen yogurt but not ice cream. I figure it's best to take a job where I can get leadership experience, can stand behind the product, and don't have to bike a half an hour to get there every day. Also, with this job I can keep my currant job. Which is a plus, since I just picked up another bigger money shift and am generally opposed to leaving jobs after only being there a few months.

Next thing is: I entered into a half marathon yesterday! It's at a little island that's just a bit north of Portland and it is on the Fourth of July. Really early in the morning on the Fourth of July. I'm excited because you are supposed to get Strawberry Shortcake after that race. Now I have something to train for AKA the Foot Traffic Flat. A nice bonus of this Half is that it's exactly the right amount of time before a marathon that I'd like to run for me to use it as a stepping block to get trained up for the marathon.

And then let's not forget that yesterday was Pi day. So, I went over to my friend Rosie's house and had some pizza pie.
Pizza Pi

Delicious
I'm about to go for a run now in fact. I've got to work off that Pizza and get ready for that Half.

Oh, the air, the air is full of spring.

That's right. Spring is in the air.

I went on a trip to the grocery store today (funnily enough not to buy groceries but a gaggle of other necessary household items) and as it turned out the sun was out and the flowers were blooming. So I grabbed my camera.

A beautiful tree with peeling bark

The trees are just beginning to bloom

I hope that everyone else is feeling the sweet sunshine of spring as they go about their day. More updaty updates in the future. For now I just want to share with you the joy of new beginnings.

Yay! Yay! Yay!

I am super super excited right now. It's partially because I'm on a massive sugar high from eating left over peanut butter icing (for my roomie's birthday brownies with peanut butter icing) but mostly because a lot of things are coming together right now!

First! I worked my first busing shift today. I've only got one a week but I think they're going to be good money. Today I made $50 in tips! That's on top of my base pay (which should be about 9/hr). I'm saving most of my cash for fun goals like a trip to Seattle. Although, some of it's going in a little car fund so I can buy gas for my friend's car that I'm baby sitting.

Second! I got another job! It doesn't start until April which will be nice since I won't have to worry about being out of town for Jon-Mike and Jackie's wedding in March. I was a little anxious about that with all the other jobs I had applied to. It's also a promising job because it has room for advancement. I would really like to get some leadership experience so I am happy to get a job at which I can advance.

Third! Brownies with Peanut Butter icing are in my near future!

Fourth! I went for a run this morning before work and I forgot about it by the time I got off of work which is one of my favorite things. Working out in the morning and being really ready for the day plus forgetting about it and then remembering that you don't have to exercise because you already did. It's wonderful. Friday's are going to be my long run days which I think is going to work out great because I don't have to be at work until 10. So I have a long morning.

I hope you all are eating something sweat so you can get on my level right now.

Night update

If I had to make a list of things I wanted to do today it wouldn't have been long.

1. Working Interview.

2. Buy couch.

3. Go for a run.

It would have only been 3 items long. But, today, I feel like I've accomplished so much more!

Two friends of mine got postcards from me today.

I went to and think I did well on the working interview

I bought a couch and got it in my room (which involved taking two doors off their hinges). That couch is brand new, soft and fluffy, and only cost $35. Win Win if you ask me.

I reorganized my room to accommodate my couch

I probably biked at least 8 or 9 miles.

On part of my bike ride (the part after I left my working interview) I made a friend visit. Got a little friend time in.

Then, I went for a run.

After which I ate a delicious dinner and made carrot cake which I'm about to enjoy.

Hope you all are having an equally accomplished day.

Best wishes.

Good Morning Lovelies

Good Morning all. Hope that everything is swell for you delightful and dedicated blog followers. For those of you who are just dropping in. Welcome. Do come back.

Have you noticed something readers? Do I seem to be in a perkier mood than usual? Am I using words like 'swell'? Why yes. Yes I am.

I thought I would update the blog a bit early today because I am going to be at a working job interview later and then, hopefully, buying a couch for my room, and going on a run. I'm pretty excited about the working interview because, in my experience, a working interview means that you pretty much have the job. Unless you seem crazy or hate the establishment after the interview. I could bike home today with a new job in my grasp. That would be wonderful! I may check in later to update you all on how it went.

Until then, wish me luck.
