Last night: Midnight mystery ride. Bike prom. Don't know what I did but got hit on by a lot of skeezers. Deflected them with an unceremonious and somewhat emasculating rhetoric. What can I say? I get mean when pushed too hard. You gotta be gentle with me. I'm a princess.

Tonight is the world famous World Naked Bike Ride. Gonna be a lotta nakies out there. Bicyclist are fragile and there's nothing like them riding around in mostly skin and bones to really send that point home to motorist. There is no hard shell protecting these organs.

Tomorrow is work but then a date!! "Milkshakes" and a show. It's going to be a tired day. More work on Monday (get money), but I should find a time to train-First training run of the potential Portland Marathon.

Don't point out that I'm afraid of failure.
Tell me I'm crazy and I'll prove you wrong.

Tuesday I have a brief respite. Just a going away party. A show if I can squeeze it in. Wednesday, train and work. Thursday, train and work. Friday Work, and work. Saturday, long run!! And work. Sunday working again. Did I already flash them dollar signs at y'all. $$$$$$$

Monday, I've got a friend date.
Fancy drinks, fancy food.
The beginning of a long anticipated two day weekend!

No Jacket, Short Sleeves

I'm sitting outside in the sun talking to a friend via gchat. I'm not wearing a jacket, I'm wearing a lightweight short sleeve shirt. And I am happy. Did you know that all it takes to make me happy is sunshine? I'm tying to move south after this :).

It doesn't hurt that I trained to serve today so I'm getting ready to start making some money. But, I think most of what's doing it is that I'm sitting in the sun.

Other things I'm looking forward to are: My afternoon bike ride for cross training, A visit in the near future from my brother and his wife, cheap drinks tonight with my friend Marika.

Tomorrow is another day of training and then I've got a day off before the weekend starts on Friday morning with work. It's nice to have a five day work week too.

In general this day is just something I'm enjoying. If I had to summarize this post. It would go like this

Things that I'm happy about right now:
1: sunshine
2: no jacket, no hat, no gloves
3: future visits
4: friend time
5: prospective money
6: internet conversations with friends
7: five day work week
8: the warmth on the back of my neck which comes from sunshine.

Yay! Yay! Yay!

I am super super excited right now. It's partially because I'm on a massive sugar high from eating left over peanut butter icing (for my roomie's birthday brownies with peanut butter icing) but mostly because a lot of things are coming together right now!

First! I worked my first busing shift today. I've only got one a week but I think they're going to be good money. Today I made $50 in tips! That's on top of my base pay (which should be about 9/hr). I'm saving most of my cash for fun goals like a trip to Seattle. Although, some of it's going in a little car fund so I can buy gas for my friend's car that I'm baby sitting.

Second! I got another job! It doesn't start until April which will be nice since I won't have to worry about being out of town for Jon-Mike and Jackie's wedding in March. I was a little anxious about that with all the other jobs I had applied to. It's also a promising job because it has room for advancement. I would really like to get some leadership experience so I am happy to get a job at which I can advance.

Third! Brownies with Peanut Butter icing are in my near future!

Fourth! I went for a run this morning before work and I forgot about it by the time I got off of work which is one of my favorite things. Working out in the morning and being really ready for the day plus forgetting about it and then remembering that you don't have to exercise because you already did. It's wonderful. Friday's are going to be my long run days which I think is going to work out great because I don't have to be at work until 10. So I have a long morning.

I hope you all are eating something sweat so you can get on my level right now.

Night update

If I had to make a list of things I wanted to do today it wouldn't have been long.

1. Working Interview.

2. Buy couch.

3. Go for a run.

It would have only been 3 items long. But, today, I feel like I've accomplished so much more!

Two friends of mine got postcards from me today.

I went to and think I did well on the working interview

I bought a couch and got it in my room (which involved taking two doors off their hinges). That couch is brand new, soft and fluffy, and only cost $35. Win Win if you ask me.

I reorganized my room to accommodate my couch

I probably biked at least 8 or 9 miles.

On part of my bike ride (the part after I left my working interview) I made a friend visit. Got a little friend time in.

Then, I went for a run.

After which I ate a delicious dinner and made carrot cake which I'm about to enjoy.

Hope you all are having an equally accomplished day.

Best wishes.

Good Morning Lovelies

Good Morning all. Hope that everything is swell for you delightful and dedicated blog followers. For those of you who are just dropping in. Welcome. Do come back.

Have you noticed something readers? Do I seem to be in a perkier mood than usual? Am I using words like 'swell'? Why yes. Yes I am.

I thought I would update the blog a bit early today because I am going to be at a working job interview later and then, hopefully, buying a couch for my room, and going on a run. I'm pretty excited about the working interview because, in my experience, a working interview means that you pretty much have the job. Unless you seem crazy or hate the establishment after the interview. I could bike home today with a new job in my grasp. That would be wonderful! I may check in later to update you all on how it went.

Until then, wish me luck.

Road running

I've got the racing bug. I've just spent the last hour and a half looking up races in the Portland area.

Specifically, I'd love to be able to train for a marathon. I don't know if that's something I could do without a team of supporters but I don't know, the idea is bouncing around my head quite a bit. The race that has me really interested is the Columbia Gorge Marathon. It sounds like a beautiful event. Still, there are a few obstacles for me. One is that there aren't a lot of spectators to lend emotional support and another is I know I should shoot for a half before I try and run the whole. It's hard not to get ahead of myself. Ah!

Who wants to fly out here and help me whip myself into shape? Any volunteers?! Oh boy.... I can't stop looking up races. I've got to get myself back into running!!

32 hours

Yesterday, our internet went out.

It was out from when I woke up to listen to Stephanie's radio show (at 7 am) to at least when i went to bed at 12pm. I didn't check it again until I came home from work this afternoon. So, I went a whole 32 hours with no internet. Which, it turns out was a challenge. I don't know how Stephanie does it in Paonia. Shout out to that.

I did get some good reading done, a run in, a friend date, some collage material cut out, and a collage made. So, a pretty good anti web day anyways.

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to update for you all though. So, I'm relieved things have settled on that front.
Other than that, I've started campaigning for higher pay where I work. I don't know how that will go but I figure it can't go too poorly. Plus, as a host there, I do a lot that a server is getting tipped for plus way more to keep the restaurant running smoothly. So, I figure the hosts should get tipped out a little bit, at least.

One more day of work before the job search/rest of the week begins. Some highlights that you're almost sure to hear more about are:
HIKES!
DINNERS!
and JOBS!

Get excited.

Pizza and the move

So much is happening right now in my life here in Portland!

Yesterday morning I made Pizza dough (I even went on a quick bike ride while I was waiting for things to rise) Then, I did some household chores: cleaning, and packing etc. When the evening came, I headed on over to my new friend's Natalie & Alex's house with the pizza dough in tow.

We ended up making two pizzas and talking so late I had to stay on their couch because the trains had stopped running.

This morning after heading home, and a failed attempt to hit up the library on my way home, I set to work moving my stuff over to my new house. Here I have some pictures of my new room which is only partially set up but at least you'll get an idea.

There was a desk in my room when I moved in and it's so much more spacious than the one I have now that I think I'm going to keep it instead.

That blue milk crate is for my dirty cloths and I have a huge mirror!

I had these hooks on the wall at my other place to save valuable space and I just liked the idea of a coat hanging space for this room too.

How my closet will, hopefully stay. Organized and sparse.

All of this packing, moving, and cooking, has cut down on the number of jobs I'm applying to a day. Today I only got one online application sent in. So, I'm going to have to step up my game on that.

I'll try not to get too distracted by my other goals of unpacking, running with my new friend Marika, getting to the post office, and returning/picking up books from the library (as well as printing out resumes) get in the way of money making tomorrow.

I hope you have all had as satisfying a day as I have.
