Bits and pieces

I have so many different projects underway. You guys best be glad that I don't have any way to capture the complete wreck that is my room right now.

I'm making little ambient light arrangements for my room. I'm getting rid of my couch and my desk, stripping a section of my room of two layers of wallpaper and one layer of paint in order to repaint it.

I just procured a loft for free and am now on the rampage fixing my room up. Ordered some sweet shelves for my future, and, am going to repaint my dresser. to match my shiny new wall. Besides that I'm trying to outfit a corner of my bed to be a little couch for reading while sitting up. That's important stuff. Nothing is done. Most of this is still a dream. But it's a dream that can be realized. I have three days a week off from work.

Wallpaper striping formula, primer, white paint, an electric sander, a tiny bit of colorful paint 3 colors, a little bit of wood to build supports on the loft/couch and a drill. That's what I need. I might pull up my carpet after this too. I just pulled up a bit to find that there is hardwood floor underneath of this ugly stuff. Why would you do that to a space?!

Besides that I'm working on some Christmas projects, postcards, and some ongoing yard work. My biggest problem is that I forget to eat when I get all caught up in these things. I've been living off of brussel sprouts and corn tortillas for two days for lack of faster and better things to eat once I realize that I'm starving. It'll all balance out eventually. Plus, brussel sprouts are the best. But seriously, who wants to come over and feed me?

Night update

If I had to make a list of things I wanted to do today it wouldn't have been long.

1. Working Interview.

2. Buy couch.

3. Go for a run.

It would have only been 3 items long. But, today, I feel like I've accomplished so much more!

Two friends of mine got postcards from me today.

I bought a couch and got it in my room (which involved taking two doors off their hinges). That couch is brand new, soft and fluffy, and only cost $35. Win Win if you ask me.

I probably biked at least 8 or 9 miles.

On part of my bike ride (the part after I left my working interview) I made a friend visit. Got a little friend time in.

Then, I went for a run.

After which I ate a delicious dinner and made carrot cake which I'm about to enjoy.

Good Morning Lovelies

Good Morning all. Hope that everything is swell for you delightful and dedicated blog followers. For those of you who are just dropping in. Welcome. Do come back.

Have you noticed something readers? Do I seem to be in a perkier mood than usual? Am I using words like 'swell'? Why yes. Yes I am.

I thought I would update the blog a bit early today because I am going to be at a working job interview later and then, hopefully, buying a couch for my room, and going on a run. I'm pretty excited about the working interview because, in my experience, a working interview means that you pretty much have the job. Unless you seem crazy or hate the establishment after the interview. I could bike home today with a new job in my grasp. That would be wonderful! I may check in later to update you all on how it went.

shmoving

So, The place that I was thinking that I would move into is not such a certain thing anymore so I am currently on the market for a new place to live.

My 1st option right now is a pet sitting gig for most of Feb where I would take care of a cat and stay for a pretty affordable price in a really nice neighborhood. It is right across the street from a park, really close to a 2nd run movie theater, about half the distance from work. I would love to stay there. The only thing is that it would be temporary which is a bit sad since it's such a nice location.

I've emailed some more conventional living situations that are also pretty affordable but only one other has returned my email and I had a weird feeling about it so am not going to go with that one.

Any of those would be nice because I wouldn't have to move again in a month.

Oh why, oh why, did I buy a bed? It makes being in a transient state so much harder.

In other news: I'm going to have my friend Jon's car at my disposal for 6 months while he's gone so moving in that time won't be oh so bad.

gainfully employed...or at least getting closer.

Hope springs eternal! Or, at least, hope is renewed.

I have heard back from one of the places at which I applied to work. It would just be a hosting gig and I would need another job seeing as it would probably only be on the weekends but still, there is hope.

I also, applied to be a bank teller which, as my friend Krista reminds me, could be a job that develops into full time+benefits. That would be simply magical. I even had my first phone interview in pursuit of this teller job.

Other than that, I have been settling in to my new abode. I got a library card at my local library which is all of two blocks away. And as a special thing the library was doing for their website I had my picture taken with my new card. Really integrating into the Portland community here.

I am getting used to my new home but still need a dresser or some serious storage space. I may get a real bed in a day or two. We'll see how things go.

Things are on the up and up and all I could ask for now is a little bit of dessert.

Yard Sale! Yard Sale!

The past two days have been days of acquisition.

Yesterday, I bought myself some beautiful sheets from an estate sale ($2 total) and today I bought myself a beautiful print ($1) , some very pretty coasters (.75 total), a useless but whimsical clock ($4), and a very cute desk to do my computing on ($10)

My room still has a ways to go as I'll probably need something to put my coasters on and to hang my print with but I'm still pretty thrilled. Here are a few pics of my new treasures.
