Canyons and other adventures

Hey! Hey! Pictures. Yep, I've got something special for you.

Yesterday Katelyn and I went to an awesome canyon while Stephanie was at work. Yay to visiting sisters who live in awesome places!

Then last night, after the work day was over, we all headed over to Aspen to meet with Stephanie's friend Jenny, eat an overpriced dinner, and watch a kinda strange show. Sorry, I don't have pictures from the show. I forgot to bring my camera there. But, here's the canyon
Black Rock Canyon (see that little river down there?!)

Some of the high peaks inside the canyon which was crazy deep

Rocks, bush, and the sky at the top

Lichen on the rocks at the canyon
Stay tuned for more great pictures. It's vacation baby!

Staying up all night and going to Colorado

Last night, I didn't come home to make my blog post. I stayed out all night at my friend Natalie's house since we were busy keeping her boyfriend awake for his super early flight to Miami this morning. Tonight looks like it's shaping up to be almost exactly the same situation but instead of keeping Alex awake, we're keeping me awake and instead of flying to Miami I'll be flying to CO for some quality family time.

I can't wait for some sweet, sweet vacation. I'll see most of you all very soon.

All the best.

Nothing Much

I haven't gotten up to much in the past couple of days. Didn't even manage to go on my long run on Friday. I don't know why, but working up the energy to run has been hard this week. I think I made a running buddy that I can do a 7 miler with on Wednesday. So, I'm looking forward to that. Maybe I can make up for my missed run a bit.

Tomorrow and then Monday = last two days of work before vacation! Yay! Now, I just gotta work out how I'm getting to the airport so early in the morning. I'm sure it will all turn out though.

Hope your all's weekends are going swell.

Best!

Waking up late

Boy,

Today and Yesterday, I have woken up at 11am!

I don't know what I've been doing with myself and I tend to think that maybe I'm fighting off allergies a little bit so I need more sleep but compared to my regular wake up time (which is in between 7-8) I've been waking up crazy late. It's kind of a great luxury but it makes me nervous that when I need to wake up early I won't be used to it anymore and won't be able to do it.

It's good I have very little planned for my day so I'm not really behind. I'm just going to start reading my book in a few minutes. This book is one of the reason's I'm waking up late. I keep starting to read it before I go to bed and then not realizing that I should stop reading until about 1 in the morning.

Good News: there are two fairs; The Rose Festival and the Multnomah County Fair, this weekend. So, I'm going to try and hit up at least one of those.

Later!

Slacking on the Sched.

Hi all, and by all I mostly mean, Katelyn- My one most dedicated blog follower.

Sorry for letting you guys down on the blog schedule. I know that I've missed my past two updates. Things have been happening for sure but for some reason, I haven't been on the computer as much to let you know about them. The biggest reason for that is actually because in my free time I've been reading a book called Shantaram. It's a good book but I've been reading it with special fervor because it's due back to the library when I'm on vacation so I know I need to get it all read before I leave and it's like a 900 page book. All of my extra time focus has been going into this book. Sorry all.

Besides all of that reading what have I been doing with my time?
Enjoying the nice weather for one. It's been warm enough to wear short sleeves pretty much every day this week.
Going on a couple of dates for another. Since last Friday I've gone to a Cajun food place, had a home made dinner date, and gone to see a movie with the same boy.

Going to some music shows. Found a band I really enjoy besides the one that I always go to see, And, And, And. They're called My Autumn's Done Come. I really enjoy the fact that Portland really does have a show to offer every night of the week that is usually free or under $5 to see. I mean, I'm not going every night of the week but I have been to 3 shows in the past 3 weeks. It probably doesn't hurt that I have a crush on a band member.

Aside from all of this, I've been working and trying to maintain a clean home. Today, Wednesday, has been nicknamed Cleansday by my roomie because I try to at least clean the linolium floors that we have every Wedensday. Today, I cleaned the bathroom, except for the shower and am working on a wipe down and floor cleaning of the kitchen.

I'm also avoiding sugar (that doesn't occur in fruit) this week. Boy, is that a challenge for me. It makes me realize how much of an addict I am. I had a dream about brownies last night! For goodness sake, brownies!

I'll try and update tomorrow so you don't feel too left behind on the happenings of my life. Then, I'll be back on track.

Thanks for reading. Shout out to Dan, who I know reads this blog on the regs too. I appreciate it.

Day of Rest

Today is my Sunday. I slept in until10am. Walked around downtown Portland and made myself some easy leftovers for brunch. Now, I'm just talking to my buddy online.

Let me just say I deserve these moments of sloth. I cleaned like a crazy person yesterday. Floors;bathroom, kitchen, living areas; cabinets, oven, microwave, toaster, refrigerator. I even cut the front lawn. Then I had a dinner date where I made some ridiculously delicious beans and rice. Went full on out with Tomatillos, an heirloom tomato, avocados, and cilantro. Those are all things that I might not always add to my beans and rice (depending on the budget). I'm just gonna say it once. It was some butt kicking beans and rice. For sure.

I wish I'd taken a picture of it so you all good have an idea of what went down :). I'm always happy with my beans and rice but I am downright proud of this round.

I hope you all have made some delicious food for yourselves recently. I think I'm going to make some savory pies sometimes soonish. I will take pictures of those.

Sleeping In

Spring is certainly in the air and what makes me feel like summertime is on the way more than being lazy and sleeping in? I can't think of anything. Today I woke to a face full of sunshine which really got me out of bed in a good mood. I might start sleeping with my blinds up all of the time so that I can enjoy that morning sunshine as much as possible.

This evening, if it doesn't start raining as forcasted, I'm going to go get some tennis in with my buddy Marika. I'm pretty excited about it.

I hope you all are enjoying your springtimes as much as I'm enjoying mine.

All the Best
