so what?!

Yeah... So, I'm sitting around in my living room wearing, big turquoise earrings, bright, bright red lipstick, silly-awesome red boots and a big ol' "fur" coat over my regular black shirt and jeans. What?! Are you judging me right now? I wake up early! It's Halloween weekend!

For real, I want to dye my hair black and white but it's 10:30 in the morning and maybe I should try not to get ahead of myself. On the other hand, I think I might already be ahead of myself so maybe I should. hehehehe

Here's a quick picture for your enjoyment

A little walk in the sun

Sickity sick is how I would describe my last 5 days. I've been real, real, ill.

However, three and a half days of antibiotics and my energy is back. My, lymph node is no longer incredibly large and covered in some scary looking grey-brown film. I can swallow food without incredible amounts of pain, and water with none. I can walk around my neighborhood and run into my fellow neighborhood mates (some of which are pretty cute). Which is exactly what I just did.

I don't have Strep or Mono and truth be told, no one knows what I have. But, I am on the mend and that's really all that I care about right now. Hurray for modern science! Hurray for healing! Things are on the up and up.

I'd like to make a quick shout out to my dad who was in contact with me from the beginning (convincing me to go to the doctor), Mamaw for checking in with me, my friend Natalie who came and kept me company while I was sick and to my roommates who did much the same. But, out of them, a special thanks to Travis who came and checked in on me when I couldn't leave my room. Also, shout outs to everyone who offered to bring me soup. I truly appreciate having this community of people that care here. It means so much to me.

Freak Bike Fall

Portland, is awesome. Tonight is the beginning of Freak Bike Fall and I mean to take part. I'm

especially psyched because I don't have to work this weekend so, I can stay out as late as I can

handle. Hopefully, I can make it pretty deep into the festivities. Wish me luck and I hope you

weekends are looking as good as mine.

On the fritz

My computer thinks that he's on his last leg. Little does he know that he's going to last me for at least another year and a half.

He's been practicing his death rattle for the past couple of weeks. First he gave me a blue screen, which two of my room mates referred to as "the blue screen of death" but then one of them somehow brought him back from the brink. And that was good. But then last night, as I typed to you, you very devout readers, about a breach in my healthy (and temporary) diet, the screen went completely black.

I had my Mac desktop for 5 years and never had any of this sort of problems so I am pretty much completely in the dark on this (as my computer wants me to be). Luckily, I have a collection of technology minded folk in my life some of which have been navigating the infested land of computer zombies for quite some time.

On a more positive note: I'm going as Cruella Devil for Halloween and I am slowly but surely amassing all of the appropriate pieces to make an awesome costume. Today I searched long and hard and finally found a good faux fur coat (which I plan on reselling after Halloween). I also, found a really cute hand mixer while I was out and about which is a totally different thing that I'm excited about. I, in a stroke of money wasting, costume oriented focus, ordered red boots online that shall serve me both during and after Halloween if I have anything to say about it. If I can't re-wear them then they're being resold too. I'm trying to make as much back as possible on this costume with plans to resell at least the coat, the dress and then maybe the shoes. Dressing up can be a bit expensive.

How about you? Do you have any fun Halloween plans that you'd like to share with me? Any diet disaster stories? Any suggestions on how to keep my hair standing up like Cruella's for a whole night? How do you feel about the fragility of laptops or the loonieness of microsoft? Feel free to use the comment section of this blog or some other electronic means to communicate with me about any of these topics and more.

All the best.

Still fighting

I'm still in the process of fighting off the illness. Going to sleep now. If anyone has any tips on how to beat impending doom, let me know.

Back to the search

Tomorrow, I go to work for the beginning of my three day work week.

This would be great if I was making a lot of money but it turns out I'm not so, I'm back to the job hunt. Today I did apply to a full time hosting position where you get a significant amount of tip out, a shift meal, and dental/medical after three months. It also would allow me to continue working at Slappy Cakes if I wanted too, which might be nice. I'm sure tons and tons of people applied but it's worth a shot.

I'm off to bed early, as I'm still trying to avoid the plague. But, wish me the best of luck.

The Sickness: PG13: for graphic content.

My house is riddled with disease ridden people.

To start with, you've got me and my yeast problems which seems to be settling down a bit but I'm sticking to a kind of crazy diet for a while- trying to totally eradicate this stuff.

But then you kick it up to a little cold that my roomie, Sean has, and that my body is definitely working to fight off right now with lots of sleep. I've been hitting the sack at about 8:30 for the past few nights.

After that our household goes another step into the illness because 3 days ago my next door roomie developed a gross abscess which we looked at for a couple of days before his body convinced him it was time to see a doctor (the plight of the uninsured) and was diagnosed as probably having a staph infection today. I went to the doctor with him and they don't know for sure but will probably know pretty soon what it definitively is.

And then worst of all: The roommate that lives in the basement (who is quite the recluse, thankfully) was just sick for two weeks before he learned that he had scabies. If you don't know what that is, don't look it up. It's gross and highly contagious. It makes me glad that he never hangs around upstairs and talks or hangs out with us because I really, really, really, don't want to get scabies.

There you have it. Our house is like a testing center for biological warfare. Four out of the Six people that share my space have individual physical maladies. One of the two currently safe roomies lives on a bus, next door. At the end of the day, I just don't want anyone to die (or for myself to get scabies, because that would be awful).
