Friend Dinner

I am so excited to make this recipe (in approximation, I'm not getting crazy and buying $7 gluten free granola) that I've planned a friend dinner so that I can make it happen without eating them all myself.
Now, I've just got to make the rest of the dinner plans and things can happen.

I love summer time, friend dinners, and planning events so that you can make one dish.

What're your favorite dishes to make with friends?

P.S. I might make this dish too.

Shout outs today to Sprout Health for hooking it up on the recipes.

The truth is yellow, for now.

Yesterday, I dyed my pants yellow orange. Sherbet orange, I'd call it if pressed.

I got you all a couple of pictures but they're not as spectacular as the pants.

Which brings me to two different points. First out of, I will be dying these pants every so often until they are very dark. Next up, I kind of want to dye them burgundy/brown however, I'm thinking of green now. Eventually, they'll probably be black. Now, they are yellow though. So, here we have it. Don't worry, you shall see them all.

My second of two points is, I may start looking for a new camera. I'm thinking of getting a phone with a good camera when I update. Any suggestions on point and shoots or cell phones?

My pants! Used to be white but got dirty too easily.

Close up!

Flower season!

Things aren't going perfectly over here but when do things ever go perfectly?
Here are some pictures of a vase full of flowers that I picked in my yard. Enjoy.

Photodocumentation

These pictures are from my friend's cell phone. I'm hoping that we can soon get even better pictures from our new friends but so far it's a no go. So, here's what we've got.

Sea Lion on a Buoy

Harbor seals (we were actually much closer than all of these pictures lead you to believe)

The Coast from the water

Sea caves that we almost went inside.

Eclipse (might just look like the sun in this picture).

Whales!

Went whale watching in a tiny boat.
It was awesome.
Watched a mama and a baby Grey Whale spraying simultaneously.
Looked at the Oregon Coast from the ocean.
Saw the solar eclipse from the sea.
Spotted an endangered Steller Sea Lion and some bespeckled harbor seals.
Rode in a car with a friend.

Forgot my camera.

Still, I made friends with one of the ladies who went awatching with us and she may send me some pictures. Stay tuned for updates.

Love,
Rachel

Garden time

Our yard has pretty much been in total disarray ever since I moved into the house. And it has only gotten worse since then. We don't have a functional lawn mower, blackberries have decided that they should own our yard instead of us, no one wants to clean the yard up when it's rainy all the time.

Luckily the sun is here and this year, my roommate's girlfriend (who I think is tired of sitting around watching my roommate play video games), is helping us clear everything out.

The blackberries are being beat into submission-much thanks to her. We still have plenty of roots to dig up but there is an end in sight which is such a relief.

Taking components from our back yard that were previously covered by the blackberries, I've built a small garden area in the front yard to grow succulents, tomato plants, basil and hopefully carrots soon. I ordered some lady bugs for my tomato plants which are currently infected with annoying aphids. I've been wiping them off but can't wait to get some predatory action going against those little buggers.

This is the garden area that I made in our front yard. Hopefully to be added onto in the near future.
There is currently only one tomato plant and some hardier "found" plants growing there right now.

Succulents that we found growing on the sidewalk and being tossed by neighbors (also, a somewhat stolen strawberry shoot).

Hopefully, we can make this happen. The growing season isn't exceptionally long here but I have faith that it will turn out well. Wish us luck.

Wowee

That's all I can say.

Got too excited about the boy. It didn't work out. He wasn't as excited I guess. I deserve someone to be real excited about me so it's ok.

Trained my last day at work today. Held it together in only a slightly frazzled way. Work alone on Wednesday and then my regular schedule kicks in on the 20th.

Happy Mother's day Mom. I love you.

This weekend:
Drank fancy margaritas for cheap.
Helped friends move.
Cried.
Slept less than necessary.
Rode in the sunshine.
Bought sweet new high top sneaks.
Scavenged free stuff.

Today:
Worked.
Talked to a stranger for 3 hours.
Realized I need to see my friends more than once a week.
Made a peace offering out of leftover pastries.

It's summer time.
